Elkhart’s Indian Motorcycle is the place for bike enthusiasts

Elkhart’s Indian Motorcycle is perhaps one of the sources for motorcycles enthusiasts that wish to tune up and customize their bikes. You will also be able to witness beautiful American made V-twin motorcycles.

Chris Schelle, president of Elkhart Indian Motorcycle, claimed that Elkhart was the ideal spot for expansion as his repair shop business in Osceola was too small.

“Chris became a master technician at Grencers Motorsports where he worked for a while,” said Anne Schelle, the office manager of the shop.

“After that he left the dealership because he was working as a firefighter at the same time. He started working on bikes right out of the garage.”

The shop started out with just Schelle and Stan Miller, the current vice president, and a loyal clientele of about 75 to 100 people. As they began to grow, they found themselves in Elkhart.

“Many of our customers are surprised at how smooth and light our rides really are,” Anne said. “People like Harleys because of how loud they are, and they associate that with the rumble of the bike. Indians can be just as loud, and have a much smoother ride because of our suspension.”

“What we hear most around here is ‘if I ride it, I’ll buy it,’” laughed Anne.

“We like to be as engaged in the community as we can,” Anne said. “Sometimes we’ll even donate items for silent auctions for certain sponsors.”

Elkhart Indian Motorcycle owners plan to expand, both in their building space and employment.
