Suzuki Motorcycle India aims 500,000 unit sales within 2017-2018

According to the Indian arm of Japanese manufacturer Suzuki Motorcycle, the firm is planning to sell 500,000 units within 2017-2018, an aim to improve from the 350,000 unit sales in the current 2016-2017.

With an objective to grow, the firm will be adding new models in both scooters and motorcycles. According to Suresh Babu, Head of marketing and product planning at Suzuki Motorcycle, the premium segment (the 125cc and 150cc) will be the priority for now.

The company is working on the anti-lock braking system, and all its motorcycles in the 125cc and above range will be equipped with ABS before the April 2019 deadline.

Currently, the Suzuki Gixxer sells 7000-8000 units per month and the firm has garnered a 3-4 percent market share in a market size of annual of 1.9 million units.

Just recently, the firm announced that its models have already been aligned with the new BS IV emission norms which will come into force from 1 April 2017.
