Penang Head of State pays honorable visit to Boon Siew Honda

Boon Siew Honda Sdn. Bhd (BSH), which is the first automotive factory in Penang, has served the highest honor to present the latest technologies to His Excellency the Head of State of Penang, Tun Dato’ Seri Utama (Dr.) Haji Abdul Rahman Bin Haji Abbas.

BSH’s new plant was inaugurated in 2013 with an annual capacity of 350,000 units and since then, the firm has had the privilege to serve a number of Special Guests ranging from the Government and Private sector.

There three cutting-edge technologies namely the Twin-Gun Painting System (developed in Japan to increase the efficiency of coating from 15% to 45%), the Rotating Painting Process Mechanism (complements the Twin-Gun Robots to minimize the paint wastage while reducing production time) and the Shape Conforming Painting Robot (developed in Japan, automatically adjusts painting process to match product shape and thus increase efficiency by 50%.), the Multi Model Engine Receiving Jig (developed in Japan and number one in Malaysia, which helps BSH to reduce 22 seconds of man-hour per unit), Emission Lab, equipped with advanced exhaust gas measurement system, ensures full ECE compliance and enables detailed emission analysis based on collected data and lastly the Final Inspection Facility (consists of test stand, speedometer tester, brake tester and headlight tester, further improving accuracy of inspection and compliance.)

Not to mention, BSH is also the 1st two- wheel manufacturer in Malaysia to obtain EEV (Energy Efficient Vehicle) Certification by JPJ Malaysia, a total of 5 models: Namely Honda EX5 Fi, Honda Wave Alpha, Honda Wave Dash Fi, Honda Future Fi and Honda BeAT. These achievements demonstrate BSH’s commitment to a greener environment in Malaysia, following Honda’s Environmental Vision.

The 3-hour special visit by His Excellency Tun was accompanied by Mr Kiyoshi Itoi (Consulate- General of Japan in Penang), Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Suppiah Manikam (Honorary Consul of Poland in Penang), Commisioner of Police Datuk Wira Chuah Ghee Lye (Chief Police of Penang), Yang Berbahagia Dato Mohd Pudzi Bin Man (Penang State Director of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department), Yang Berbahagia Tuan Meor Hazebullah bin Meor Abd. Malik (Penang State Director of Immigration Department), Directors of SM Fuji Carriers Sdn. Bhd., together with all BSH Directors. The tour started olff with a warm welcome by BSH directors upon His Excellency’s arrival at 10.30am. It was followed by a group photo, motorcycle viewing, a briefing session on the introduction of BSH operation in Malaysia and signing of

commemorative plaque followed with a factory tour. As a gesture of appreciation, His Excellency was presented with a record breaking motorcycle (1.5 million production units), Honda EX5 Fi Limited Edition. This model has been in the Malaysia market for the past 30 years and has gained lot fame and affection among Malaysians. This presentation was witnessed by the Deputy CEO of BSH, Dato’ Sri Datuk’ Wira Tan Hui Jing.

Right after the factory tour, His Excellency was served a scrumptious lunch at the Safety Riding Centre, not before a hands-on experience on the motorcycle riding simulator and enjoying a front row view of the big bike demonstration by Safety Riding crew. The visit ended at 1.00pm with a presentation of a momento from Mr Nobuhide Nagata, CEO and MD of BSH before the departure of His Excellency.
