DAY 18 (02/07/13) – TUESDAY
CHINA: MENGLA – JINHONG – PU’ER – MOJIANG (440 KM)
Average Temp : 23ᵒC
Average Speed : 60 km/h
Route : National Road (G 213)
The team woke up at 6am to have breakfast, a little earlier than usual because it’s going to be a long day! We attended the briefing at 7am and said our prayers before flagging off. We headed to Mojiang though Jinhong and Pu’er. We use the old route, which is National Road, because in China motorcycles were not allowed on the highways or roads with tolls.
We went through a hilly journey with the narrow roads. The atmosphere was lively as we got to see the villages on our way. We also could take a glance the highway beneath us. The view was absolutely stunning.
Around 2pm, we’ve already travelled a total of 200km with an average speed of 60km/h. We stopped at the bus stop before Pu’er town for lunch. We all worked together to prepare the dishes, menu of the day was scrambled eggs, sardines and salted fish!
At 3.30pm, we continued our journey to Mojiang. The crew travelled on the highway because the vehicle wasn’t suitable for the ‘National Road’. The journey from Pu’er to Mojiang was tough because of the narrow bumpy roads, not to mention, it was very steep.
Finally, we reached our destination at 8pm, which was the Shuang Bao Da Jiu Dian Hotel. We were absolutely knackered after riding for 440km!
